I've noticed that there aren't really all that many awards given strictly to nursing sites. That's why I decided to create three awards that you can apply for directly from this page. If you'd like to apply for any of The Student Nurse's Study Lounge awards, please send me word by filling out the form below. Let me know which award you're applying for. I'll then visit your site, and you'll hear back from me within one week. :O) Don't be shy! Let me hear from you today. From time to time, I may also offer interesting sites my award. Don't be shocked if you hear from me. I do a lot of surfing looking at interesting nursing sites.
You can choose from these three prestigous awards :o)
***Important: Before applying, please read carefully the criteria for application which follows.
These awards are meant to be more than just simple give-aways. They are meant to recognize sites which display professionalism in the nursing or health-care profession, and sites which display effort on the part of the webmaster. I myself am no extraordinary web designer, but my site has been made with a great deal of effort and dedication on my part, and I think it shows. I appreciate the same in other websites.
Awarded sites' pages should load relatively quickly. I know this is sometimes a hard feat to accomplish, but it really is true what they say - most people will not wait more than 20 seconds for a page to load. I'm afraid that I can sometimes be one of those people, though I do try to exercise more patience than that. The best way to make sure your page will load quickly is to squash the need we all feel to place tons of meaningless graphics on our pages.
A site should be well organized, asthetically pleasing, and free from any objectionable material. The guage I use to judge objectionable material is this: if I would be leary of letting my children view your site, I wouldn't award it either.
Please do not submit sites that contain nothing but links. I hate that. I do, however, appreciate relevant links in addition to your original content.
Sites should offer something to the surfer. That something is up to you. It doesn't have to be anything that you "give away" like graphics, etc. Just the chance to get to know you is enough. Sites that are purely commercial in nature are not eligible for my awards. That does not exclude you, however, if you sell something from your site in addition to whatever else your site offers.
This is an important one: One of my biggest pet peaves about the WWW is sites that haven't been updated in 3 years. Please include on your homepage a date that offers the viewer the chance to know when the last update was. Sites applying for an award should be updated occassionally.
See, that's it! That's not so bad, is it? If you do receive one of my awards, I ask only this small favor. The images have been formatted to display best at the size in which they appear here. Please do not resize the images. If you need something smaller, let me know. I'll make something just for you!
Ready to apply? Great! Just fill out the form. If you have any trouble with it, feel free to just send me a regular old email instead!
