That's why I've made this page. I hope to help make your studying a little easier, as well as more effective by providing you with resources to let you make the most out of your time.
There were several resources I used to study for my prerequisite nursing courses (Anatomy, Chem, etc.). Among the best were the coloring books. I know it sounds childish, but they are so helpful!
You might be able to find these books at the campus bookstore, but I would recommend buying them elsewhere to avoid the huge markup. All of these books are available on-line, as well as at larger book retailers like Borders.
To brush up on basic Anatomy and Physiology, there are several computer programs that can be valuable. A good review of basic A&P is The Princeton Review's BodyWorks.
This program is very basic and fundamental, but it is helpful just to review. A much more in depth program that I've found is the Interactive Physiology CD-Roms produced by A.D.A.M. and Benjamin/Cummings. I bought those on Ebay and they're great!
As you enter your core nursing classes, there are several good study aids that I for one found to be very useful. Lippincott makes a very good series of review books that really nail down the key elements of disease processes, nursing interventions, pharmacology, etc.
The Internet is, of course, a great place to find study aids, but wading through search results to find the best sites can be extremely time consuming and frustrating. I've found many good sites for nursing and pre-nursing courses, and you can find links to them by checking out my webrings and links page. I haven't been able to find many good sites for Organic and Biological Chem though, but I do have lots of notes and handouts that online. Make sure to check those out.
I'd be very interested to know of any study aids that have been a help to you. Email me, and I'll put your comments online so that we can all help each other out!
