meningo = membranes surrounding brain & spinal cord

meno = menstrual

muco = mucus

myco = fungus

myo = muscle

nephro & reno= kidney

neuro = nerve

oculo, opto, ophthalmo = eye

onco = tumor

osteo = bone

oto = ear

oxo = presence of oxygen

patho = disease

pedi = child

phlebo = vein

pneumo & pulmono = lung

psycho = mind

pyro = fever

sarco = flesh

stomato = mouth

thrombo = platelet or clot
